Three students in Miss Elliott’s English class were published in a national writing contest. Ethan Sanchez, Makayla Farley, and Frankie Laspesa won a YoungWriters writing contest and their work was published along with other students from around the country. They were to write a 100-word story from the perspective of a villain and out of thousands of entries, theirs were chosen to be added to the collection. Knights Against Cancer students of Silver Creek High prepared dinner recently at Kevin Guest House in Buffalo for the club’s last visit of the 2022-2023 academic year. 🚌 One of the field trips our club looks forward to the most, the students donate, make and serve the dinners for all patients and their families staying there. 🧑‍🍳 “Having the ability to cook dinner 3 or 4 times a year at Kevin Guest House is vital to our students feeling they have a place to give back and serve others, which is so important to them,” says advisor Mrs. Jessica Kardashian. “We have been so blessed to continue to go there and I am so proud of the kids who take the time to be a part of this.” Our Black Knights served a picnic dinner with hot dogs, pasta salad and devil’s food strawberry shortcakes. They can’t wait to go back next year! 🌭🍝🧺 🍰 🫶

Juniors are reading “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins in Mrs. Carolyn Laurenzi-Timmerman’s English class at Silver Creek High. 📖 🏹 They are participating in a weekly competition with every student assigned a district (1-12) just like in the novel series. Students will be the tribute of their district and try to "battle it out" to become the victor of the 2023 Silver Creek Hunger Games! Black Knights in 11th grade are ranked every week based on how many points they received. For their first competition, students went on a scavenger hunt to find food items, shelter, water, and tools that would help them during the games. Each item was assigned a point value and the person with the largest number is the leader this week. The week's top three tributes are: ▪️Karmine Kuppel (District 9) with 1460 points ▪️Jack Ewing (District 6) with 1330 points ▪️Joel Dolce (District 8) with 1070 points

On Monday, May 8, Mr. Cerne’s Applied Tech class held their annual boat races in the school pool. The entire high school was invited to stop down during 4th period to watch the six teams compete. Steph VanCheri and Karli Deet made it the furthest, while John Steinwachs and Jorge Hasbun came up just short but did it in a faster time, so technically the two groups were co-champs. Thank you to Kaylee Hutchison for the photo submissions!
