The QUEST Hiking Club has accomplished what few eighth graders can claim, we hiked 38 miles in four days! Words cannot describe how proud we are of our Silver Creek hikers and student leaders. We overcame a torrential storm ☔️ with hail and lightening almost from the get-go! Thanks to Bethany Camp for letting us lodge in their cabins Wednesday evening. Thursday brought a steady rain throughout the day and a very muddy campsite that evening. Our spirits weren’t dampened, and Friday brought beautiful bone warming sun! We climbed a large hill and did another 12 miles to the outskirts of Fredonia. Saturday we finished the final eight miles strongly, and Mother Nature threw us one more challenge with rain and more lightening! We proceeded safely to our final destination were the hikers enjoyed a BBQ and the satisfaction of knowing what they had accomplished!. We look forward to accepting the challenge again next year! #BKP #SCCARES #everyday

As seen by the photos, students were engaged and independently driven to complete their differentiated assigned stations. Two of the stations are games, Finance Go Fish - a vocabulary building game, and Money Bags - a making money and exchanging money game. As seen in the photos, Miss Miller and Mrs. Pagano led students through these games while Mrs. Schuster supported the Spend or Save and Text Features stations.
As one of the stations, students are using CANVA to create a poster about Money Matters to introduce the podcast. Once all students have created their poster, they will get to vote on which one they feel is the best representation. Additionally, students are practicing a Readers Theater Play called Money Matters to improve our reading fluency. This play will be recorded as a podcast and shared with K-5 grades and 3rd grade families. Our students love learning in so many unique and engaging ways and watching them interact, learn, and shine has been such a pleasure for us.
Finally, both classes would like to extend a very warm thank you to Dr. Ralston for once again sharing a fantastic read aloud book with us Maybe by Kobi Yamada. This book inspires our children to dream big about the possibilities and opportunities they have before them and to reflect on all they've accomplished and all they've yet to experience.

**COURTESY POST** The Town of Hanover will be celebrating America's 250th Birthday! July 3-5 there will be festivities and events!

All attendees of the day left feeling inspired, informed and empowered by the difference they can make. In multiple students' reflections, they described feeling ready to use their voices and make a difference. The event, which was organized by Mrs. Kardashian in her work as part of the Holocaust & Social Justice Program, provided our students with the opportunity to reflect on their role in society.
“I watched our students engage, reflect and examine both the positive and negative impacts that ordinary people can have on society. The event left many of our students ready to use their voice for a greater good and left so many of us with so much hope. The greatest reward of sharing these experiences with our kids is that they realize their voice matters and that they have a great responsibility to speak up for themselves and for others, and what that can look like. The event was inspired by the idea that we are ordinary people doing ordinary things until together they become extraordinary, and Friday’s symposium proved just that.”

Students in Mrs. Castiglia’s Business and Personal Law class recently stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of the Chautauqua County justice system for an immersive educational experience.
Hosted by the Chautauqua County Courts and the Chautauqua County Jail, students spent the day learning firsthand how the legal system operates and exploring career opportunities within the field of law and criminal justice. Throughout the visit, students met with judges, court reporters, and court clerks, gaining valuable insight into the responsibilities and daily operations of the courthouse.
One of the highlights of the trip included observing live arraignments, allowing students to witness courtroom procedures and the judicial process in action. Students also toured the Chautauqua County Jail, where they learned about facility operations, inmate services, and the many careers connected to corrections and public service.
The experience provided students with a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world applications while gaining a deeper understanding of the justice system and the professionals who serve the community every day. #BKP #SCCARES #everyday
