Thursday night at our Board of Education meeting, several of our staff members were awarded tenure! A brief reception followed with refreshments provided by The Catering Company. Ben Layton is going to States!!
Ben will be representing Silver Creek at the NYS Esports Championships for Super Smash Bros at Syracuse University!
Ben is 1 of only 8 players that will be invited to the brand-new Esports arena in Syracuse to compete in a Smash Bros solos bracket. Ben, who is ranked 5th in the state, will be matched up against the 4th ranked player from Bethlehem Central High School.
The match will be played on Saturday, June 7th, and will begin around 9:30 AM. PlayVS will host the game live nationally on their Twitch channel, twitch.tv/playvs. Be sure to tune in and cheer on our Black Knight! #BKP #SCCares

🚨CANNON FIRING TODAY🚨
If you hear a loud “boom” later this week, Silver Creek Central School District wants to reassure the community that there is no cause for alarm.
The middle school is hosting its annual Civil War Day for students, featuring re-enactors and a cannon firing, all for educational purposes.
The district wants to make neighbors and residents aware of the cannon firing demonstration expected to occur on Thursday, approximately between 1:45 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Please note: Civil War Day is a closed-campus event and not open to the public.

A group of hardworking seniors received recognition at the Board of Education meeting last night for attaining the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness. Students were able to showcase a portion of their work during individual presentations for board members, the administration team, and family members. This acknowledgment signifies the students demonstrate the following domains: civic knowledge, civic skills and actions, civic mindsets, and civic experiences. This program recognizes student achievement in Social Studies and English courses as well as community service, work-based experiences, becoming an advocate for policy change, and coordinating service projects to better the community and world we live in.
