The following classes and opportunities are being offered for Fall 2021 by the Community Education division of the Silver Creek Central School District. Please note that pre-registration is necessary for all classes and ensures that the classes will be held.

Follow these 2 steps to register:
1. Call 951-8111 and leave a message with your name, number, and the name of your course(s).
You WILL NOT receive a confirmation call. If the course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you will be called.
2. Send in your money promptly, with this registration form and your course fees. (Include separate checks for each person.)

NOTE: You are not permanently registered until we receive your course fee. Enroll early. Money must be received before the class begins. Checks or Money Orders can be made out to: Silver Creek CS Community Ed. *65 yrs. and older 15% discount.

Classes will not meet when school is not in session or due to inclement weather. If you have any questions, please con-tact your instructor regarding cancellations. The local radio/television stations will also provide weather related closings.

PLEASE REGISTER WITH THIS FORM EVEN IF NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED. 

Bonsai Techniques

Wednesdays

October 6, 13, 20

6 – 8 p.m. (3 sessions)

This is a beginner’s course on bonsai. The course will include an introductory session with a demonstration. The next 2 sessions will be workshops in which the participants will make a bonsai. Materials will be provided.

All ages can benefit from this light and easy class which will include simple chair exercises and stretching to some fun music.  We will include the use of stretch bands and light weights if you choose to bring this equipment to class with you. Some meditation will conclude the class.  Come and have fun while you stay fit! Bring a mat for meditation time if you prefer to use the floor.

Empowered Women

Mondays from November 1 – November 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. (5 classes)

Self-care: A five-week class to enlighten women on becoming stronger and more confident in controlling one’s life. Each week will focus on a different theme:  Healthy Living, Writing “Ahhh”, Self-Discipline, Positive Push, and The Good Life.

Designed for all fitness levels, POUND provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable, and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities. Our class ranges from teenagers to senior citizens, and everything in between. Each 2-4-minute song we work out to is Carefully calibrated with interval peaks and extended fat burning sequences, providing you with the best workout in the shortest span of time. After you are done rocking out in our class, you will have completed up to 15,000 reps, performed over 30 extended interval peaks, and zipped through more than 70 techniques without even realizing it!

Bring a water bottle, yoga mat, and sweat towel. Bring your own Ripstix or contact instructor to purchase a set for $18, to use for the entire session. Will have extras available to borrow if just trying out the class before purchasing. Sneakers or bare feet are perfect for our class.

 

Yoga/Pilates

A great starting point for beginners, yet highly beneficial to the experienced exerciser.  This gentle exercise will leave you invigorated and relaxed.  Pilates focuses on the strengthening of “core” muscles that help to define and elongate your body.  Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat.

For the men.  Are you finding yourself spending too much time sitting around?  Come out one night a week and get some exercise in a fun environment.  Hone your skills.  Enjoy some friendly competition.

 

Aquacize

Looking for an easy-on-the-joints workout?  Try Aquacize and work out in the pool!  Get into shape and enjoy the benefits of this fabulous joint-friendly exercise!  The class is fast paced and cardio intense but can be modified to fit all participants.

*NOTE:  The water temperature will NOT be colder than normal this year.

 

Rubber Stamp Card Making

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Class

Completion of this New York State Dept. of Motor Vehicle 5-hour pre-licensing course allows student to earn the MV278 certificate which is needed to sign up for a road test at the DMV.

Arts Through the Ages

The earth is enriched with a variety of musics, visual arts, dance, poetry, and stories.  We, humanity, share and are blessed with eyes, ears, voices, hands, inventive and inquisitive brains….and most importantly, the arts touch the essential core of what we are.  Thus “with beauty may I walk”  Come walk and share with me, dually an historical and hands-on approach to exploring all arts.  We will share the artistic wonders of earliest man into our modern culture.  Ages 13 and up are welcome.

Materials needed: clip board, pencils with erasers, color pencils.

 

Yoga meets the Arts

Learn how meditation helps you tap into your creativity.  In the Orient, artists, before they conceptualize their visions, perform gentle yoga and meditation.  Sondra Holland learned this art technique when she was a student of TANKA, or Tibetan, artistic ways.  She would enjoy very much sharing this lovely expression with future artists in Silver Creek and the surrounding area.

Thursdays

Learn the Art of Dance!

Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballroom, and Belly Dance (just to name a few) will be the focus of the class.

Each lesson will end with yoga and meditation.

Instructor:  Sondra Warnick Holland, New York State certified vocal teacher

If one wishes, there is an Oriental presentation unifying dance, the arts, Gentil Yoga, and Meditation. This class will occur after the dance session.  Rise beyond – glide upwards.  Have you always wished to rise above your inspirational dreams?  Sondra, a meditation devotee, has spent her life studying in the Orient.  Her dream is to unite oriental teachings with western practices.  Included are the teachings of Ahimsa, non-violence; and Ashtange, the eight-fold path.  Bring yoga mat, a rug, or towel and loose clothing.  13 yrs. and older are welcome.

Do you wish to sing with happiness and beauty? Do you wish to harmonize with your friends and family? Are you a secret shower singer? Join our voices. Sondra wishes to help develop your very own unique voice. Let’s enjoy sharing music. Participants age 13 and older are welcome. Let’s have a fun holiday peace concert!

 

 WALKING THE HALLS

 There is no pre-registration for the walking program. There will be a sign-up sheet in the HS lobby. Please carry photo ID when walking. Walking will be Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. starting Sept. 13, 2021.
