Once again, the event will be hosted by David Hymowitz of #SameHere and are part of the district’s mission to educate and support the whole child. The topic will be Building Resiliency in Your Children. Helping your children become resilient is one of the most effective protective factors they need to negotiate life on life’s terms. There are four main ingredients to building resiliency: hope, connections, purpose, and adapting. We will explore how to create and foster these areas in their lives so they can successfully face life’s challenges. Links for the virtual workshops are accessible at www.silvercreekschools.org. SCHOLARSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Applications for the FAMILY HEALTH MEDICAL SERVICES HEALTH SCIENCE SHOLARSHIP, intended for graduating seniors enrolling full-time to pursue a degree in public health, health science, nursing or another health-related field, are due May 1, 2023. The FHMS Health Science Award was created for high school students graduating from High School in Chautauqua County. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to 3 qualifying students who are enrolling full-time to receive a degree in public health, health science, nursing, or another health-related field. Access to quality healthcare is essential for good health, but like most rural areas, residents often experience barriers such as transportation, health insurance coverage or the limited availability of healthcare providers and specialists in rural communities. We hope by supporting our local students in their college level studies, that they will return to Chautauqua County to practice in their chosen medical field. WHO CAN APPLY: • Open to graduating High School seniors in Chautauqua County. • Applicants must be enrolled full-time to an accredited college to receive a degree in public health, health science, nursing, or another health-related field. • Scholarships will be awarded directly to the winners. • Winners will be announced on fhmsmed.com and social media. Mr. Boedo worked in the lab as a phlebotomist and longed to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing. He loved his job and loved helping people. This award is intended to provide a student matching the below criteria with an opportunity to pursue a dream that Mr. Boedo was unable to achieve.
