Parent Broadcast, Monday, January 3, 2022
Good afternoon Silver Creek School families. A reminder that we will be handing out one free Covid test kit for each student today from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at the Elementary Band entrance (located in the Elementary bus loop) and tomorrow, Tuesday, January 4 from 1:00pm – 6:00pm. If your child tests positive after using the COVID kit, please have your child stay at home and contact your school nurse.
It is important for you to know that the use of the kits is not mandatory and completely at your discretion. Additionally, if you do not have transportation and desire a test kit, you can call your child’s office and/or send in a note in with your child and arrangements will be made to deliver to your home.
Please know, we appreciate your continued trust, partnership and flexibility as we continue to navigate Covid together. We continue our school year knowing that, “We are all in this together, and together we will get through this”.

Happy New Year from Silver Creek Central School District! #WeAreSilverCreek #BlackKnightPride #Happy2022

Parent Broadcast, Saturday, January 1, 2022
Happy New Year everyone! This past week Governor Hochul and Health Commissioner Bassett announced a statewide goal of having as many students as possible tested for COVID upon their return to school.
The Governor has called for school districts to be responsible for distributing COVID test kits to families by sending them home with students. To accomplish this goal, New York State sent COVID test kits to all school districts – we are scheduled to receive ours tomorrow, Sunday, January 2, 2022. We will receive enough test kits for every student in the Silver Creek District. These test kits are intended for families to use to test their child(ren) after winter break regardless of if your child has symptoms or not. If your child tests positive after using the COVID kit, please have your child stay at home and contact your school nurse.
It is important for you to know that the use of the kits is not mandatory and completely at your discretion. Therefore, to maintain testing resources and to only supply testing kits to families who knowingly and willingly want a kit we will have a distribution set up for Monday, January 3 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm and Tuesday, January 4th from 1:00pm – 6:00pm at the Band entrance located in the Elementary bus loop.

SHARING BLACK KNIGHT HISTORY FROM FAR
We can't say goodbye to 2021 without first saying thank you to a couple far-flung Black Knights for helping us get the 2021-2022 academic year off to a great start by making a generous donation to our campus. 🙏 Here's the story of how it happened:
Back in September 2021, we got a letter from Maryland resident Ms. Amanda Hawkins, who donated this beautiful Black Knights gym bag from the 1970's on behalf of her brother Andy Spear, who lives in California. 📬
It read, in part: "Our family lived in Silver Creek from 1965-1978... This bag was my brother Andy's... He joined the Navy after high school and ended up in San Diego... He is a retired police detective with the San Diego Police Department... Silver Creek has remained near and dear to our hearts all these years..." 🏫💛🖤
Thank you to Ms. Hawkins and Mr. Spear for their generosity and for sending a piece of our shared history home to Silver Creek, where it will be displayed for us all to enjoy. 🙌🤝

Merry Christmas to our Black Knight family from Silver Creek Central School District. #WeAreSilverCreek #BlackKnightPride

Mr. Bridon's high school band played Christmas carols in the lobby during arrival this morning! What a fun way to get everyone in the holiday spirit for our last day before winter recess!

Dear Silver Creek School Families,
Today is Friday, December 17, 2021.
You may be aware of an alarming Tik Tok post yesterday that referred to general school threats across our country for today, December 17th.
All yesterday, last evening and this morning we were in constant contact with the local authorities who determined that the threat was not credible. Additionally, please know that there was no direct credible threat directed at the Silver Creek School District. There were three schools that closed in our area because they received a direct credible threat to their specific schools.
I considered a Parent Broadcast last evening but refrained because our District never received a direct threat. Please know that if there was any credible evidence of a threat the District would have certainly notified you. So, in this case, no news was meant to be good news. In the future, if there is a similar situation, I will provide an update the evening before school to both reassure families and to give a current update.
Lastly, I want to reiterate my Parent Broadcast message from yesterday that the MS / HS were remote today because of a staffing shortage NOT because of the Tik Tok posts.
I wish all of you a restful weekend and please know, we plan to be open as normal for in person learning next Monday, December 20, 2021.
