September is National Service Dog Month! This year we will have a student with a trained and certified service dog joining our Black Knight Family. The service dog will be wearing a vest and will be leashed at all times. When he is wearing his vest, he is working. Please do not pet or give attention to a working service dog as it may distract them from their important task.
Learn more about how service dogs are trained, what makes them different from a pet, and what types of tasks they can perform to assist their handlers by clicking here: https://canine.org/service-dogs/service-dog-month/

As we head back to school, we’d like to remind families it’s important to make sure you’re not giving away too much personal information on your social media.
Personal details such as what classroom your kids are going to be in, their grade level, age, school, location, and the name of their teacher, are all particulars you may want to omit so predators and scammers can’t access that information.
You may also want to consider checking your privacy settings and be sure your posts and photos can only be viewed by people you know in real life and trust.

**COURTESY POST** 2nd Annual Michael Boedo Scholarship Cornhole Tournament and BBQ
We will be holding our 2nd Annual Michael Boedo Scholarship Cornhole Tournament and BBQ September 2nd, 2023, at The Boedo Pavilion 12401 Alleghany Rd Silver Creek NY 14136 starting at noon. Mike was a graduate of Silver Creek High School and long-time employee at TLC Healthcare Irving where he worked as a phlebotomist. If you ever had bloodwork done at TLC chances are you were met with Mikes smile and memorable laugher which could be heard across the campus. Mike had always longed to return to school to pursue a degree in Nursing.
Over the past 6 years we have given away over $6000 to graduates of Silver Creek School and Forestville School districts who are enrolled in a health care related degree program. It is in this way that we can carry on Michael’s legacy by helping students reach a goal he was not able to reach. We will have presale tickets ($10.00) good for entry for a door prize as well as food and a drink. We will have basket raffles, 50/50s and a Cornhole tournament. Entry to cornhole tournament will be $10 per person or $20 per team. While the event will be held in September, August is National Overdose Awareness month. We would like to help spread the word and break the taboo about talking about addiction. Stand up, start the discussion, save a life.
