SENIOR’S EFFORT TO HELP IS TRUE BLUE Here’s an update about a member of the Class of 2022 at Silver Creek High School who impressed us by facilitating a fundraiser to help a local family. Senior Victoria Iskra organized the Blue Out the Gym fundraiser held last month (Friday, February 18, 2022) during Black Knight basketball games to honor and raise awareness for Silver Creek graduate Tessa Douglas, who recently lost her father, Dale Douglas, to prostate cancer. “I’ve known Tessa for around 11 years since our families are close friends. After hearing about Tessa’s dad passing away I knew the family had been affected greatly,” says Victoria. “I wanted to do something to honor Dale and support the family in their loss of their husband, dad, and grandpa.” The fundraiser, which featured a bake sale, basket raffle, and a 50/50 raffle, raised $1,455 to be donated to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to be put towards future cancer research. Victoria and the district are grateful to all the individuals, businesses and organizations who helped support this effort. #wearesilvercreek #blackknightpride #BKP #Classof2022

Parent Broadcast 3/1/2022 As I previously announced, on Sunday, Governor Hochul ruled that New York State will implement the new recommendations set by the CDC. The Governor stated that starting Wednesday, March 2nd masks will become parent choice (optional) for their children at all grade levels. Chautauqua County has issued the same guidance. Therefore, staring tomorrow, masks are optional for all students, staff and visitors of the Silver Creek School District. This includes on buses and at activities/events. All other COVID requirements, such screening your child before school for sickness, reporting of positive cases, quarantining, distancing, and Test to Stay and Test to Play remain in effect until the District receives additional information from the state and county; we are presently waiting on guidance from NYSDOH. With this change, the most important fact to remember is that individuals may still wear masks if they choose, and we need to support them in their choice. Supporting differences while considering other people's feelings and beliefs makes our school community stronger and we are Silver Creek strong. Thank you to the Silver Creek School community as we continue to support the entire student body. Please do not forget, "We have navigated the COVID Pandemic together, and together we continue to get through it". If you have questions regarding the information in this broadcast, please contact our school nurse or the District Office.
