Parent Broadcast 3/1/2022
As I previously announced, on Sunday, Governor Hochul ruled that New York State will implement the new recommendations set by the CDC. The Governor stated that starting Wednesday, March 2nd masks will become parent choice (optional) for their children at all grade levels. Chautauqua County has issued the same guidance. Therefore, staring tomorrow, masks are optional for all students, staff and visitors of the Silver Creek School District. This includes on buses and at activities/events.
All other COVID requirements, such screening your child before school for sickness, reporting of positive cases, quarantining, distancing, and Test to Stay and Test to Play remain in effect until the District receives additional information from the state and county; we are presently waiting on guidance from NYSDOH.
With this change, the most important fact to remember is that individuals may still wear masks if they choose, and we need to support them in their choice. Supporting differences while considering other people's feelings and beliefs makes our school community stronger and we are Silver Creek strong.
Thank you to the Silver Creek School community as we continue to support the entire student body. Please do not forget, "We have navigated the COVID Pandemic together, and together we continue to get through it".
If you have questions regarding the information in this broadcast, please contact our school nurse or the District Office.

Parent Broadcast 2/17/2022
Please be advised that this week we have had 5 elementary students, 3 middle school students, 1 middle school staff, 1 high school student, and 1 high school staff test positive for COVID.
The Chautauqua County Department of Health has been notified.
As a reminder, New York State provided rapid tests for each school across the state to be sent home with every student so that families have the ability to test their child(ren) over break and/or prior to returning to school after recess.
We are working with the health department and are taking all recommended steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Rest assured; these individuals will not return until they have completed quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the local Department of Health.
We once again remind everyone do their part both inside and outside of school to stop the spread of the virus. I encourage everyone to monitor symptoms, stay home if you’re showing any symptoms, and stringently follow social distancing, face mask, and hand washing protocols as advised. Rest assured, the District continues to enforce strict mask wearing policies and social distancing as directed by Chautauqua County and New York State.
If you have questions regarding the information in this broadcast, please contact our school nurse or the District Office.

𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗔𝗡 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗
Silver Creek Central School District is spotlighting its scholarship opportunities for the Class of 2022.
One of the scholarships available to students pursuing forestry, natural management and/or environmental science is the SANDY COCHRAN MEMORIAL FUND SCHOLARSHIP.
One mission of the privately endowed Sandy Cochran Memorial Fund is to support students who are committed to pursuing a career in forestry, natural resource management or environmental science -- and then applying that knowledge to provide the very best in natural resource management to the 17-county region of northwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern New York.
Sandy Cochran believed that people should work safely, apply best management practices in forests, cultivate the most promising markets for our wood products, stay informed on the most recent research results and technologies, and work to create a policy environment led by well-informed political leaders. He wanted the best and brightest youth to study for forestry and related careers. His friends and colleagues created this fund to further Sandy's wishes.
The endowment funds approximately 1 to 4 scholarships annually, with a value ranging from $250 to $1,000, depending on available funds and on the number and quality of applicants. Scholarships are awarded for study in 2 or 4-year programs in forestry, natural resource management and/or environmental science, and are available to high school seniors about to begin their studies as well as to current college students.
Applicants must submit a cover sheet, an essay indicating how their career aspirations align with the Cochran vision, two or more letters of reference, and their most recent high school or college transcript.
Apply here by April 1, 2022: http://www.sandycochran.org/applications/ScholarshipApplication.pdf
