Knights Against Cancer had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the One Gold event at Roswell Park this past Friday, supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families.  The students were able to help families make luminary bags, create various pieces of canvas artwork, make gold bracelets, hear from doctors at Roswell and Oshei about the work being done for patients and were able to have the incredible opportunity to walk to Oshei and wave to the pediatric patients on JS12 who are unable to leave.  Those who have been lost were honored and remembered, and if even one story is shared from the night, it increases awareness across communities.
“This event was so incredibly impactful on our student volunteers who gave up their Friday night to give back, and I am so proud to be able to share these opportunities with them,” said Mrs. Kardashian, the KAC advisor. “This club was designed to allow our students to fight back when that fight can feel so hopeless at times, and this event left them feeling that energy.  They were the epitome of BKP.”

The Silver Creek Forestville Cheerleaders would like to acknowledge that there are many staff members at both Silver Creek and Forestville who play an integral role in their education. Friday night, each cheerleader chose a specific staff member to recognize who has made a lasting impact on them personally. The staff members were asked to come down onto the track at half-time for a small gift, some cookies, and a group picture. Not all staff could attend the game tonight, but they were still recognized at the game, and the cheerleaders gave them their gift at school on Monday!

Budgeting and Planning
Eighth-grade students in Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class learned some valuable lessons about balancing a checkbook, signing checks and how to fill out deposit slips at a bank! Some of the students played the role of the bank teller, processing their deposit and creating a receipt.
