Thank you to the community for joining Silver Creek Central School District last week (June 2, 2022) at the annual Music Gala and barbecue fundraiser. We hope you enjoyed celebrating the end of the 2021-2022 academic year with our talented Black Knights in the 3-12 ensembles as much as we did.
The public’s support helped raise more than $1,000 to enhance the performing arts for all students via the district Music Department. THANK YOU!
Thank you also to the Silver Creek Boosters for their volunteer work as well as Weidner BBQ for their flexibility in collaborating with us to provide a delicious meal after the event was delayed by a day due to inclement weather.

Thank you to our friends at Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and Chautauqua County Health Department for sharing a GUIDE TO EMERGENCY SERVICES. Silver Creek Central School District encourages its Black Knight family to share these resources related to physical and mental health with your loved ones.

Here’s the June 2022 Regents and local exam schedule for Silver Creek High School. 🏫 ✍️

FRIENDLY REMINDER: A workshop & meeting of the Board of Education of Silver Creek CSD are scheduled Thursday, June 9, 2022, and the community is welcome. 🏫 🗓💛🖤

Silver Creek Elementary School’s Girls on the Run program has been training for the past 10 weeks. They completed lessons to build their social, emotional, and communication skills while training for a race.
The program also has the girls complete a community service project and the girls did some spring gardening around the elementary grounds.
The program wrapped up last week (May 31-June 5, 2022) with a 5k race at University at Buffalo.
Coaches Kelly Pieniazek and Lindsay Weiss are so proud of the girls’ accomplishments and are thankful to the parents, family members, and teachers who were buddy runners.

Third-graders of Silver Creek Elementary School went on a field trip to Evangola State park last week for a morning of beach fun! 🏖 🚌 Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious lunch at Sunset Grill. 🥤 🌭

Members of the History & Culture Club headed to Arctic Bites in Fredonia for their first cultural dinner this academic year on Monday, May 22, 2022. 🚌 🍽
The point of these dinners is for the students to try authentic food from various cultures they may not eat every day or have ever tried and to introduce them to cultures from around the world. 🇹🇭 🇯🇵
The students all had the opportunity to try boba teas of various flavors, various sushi traditional and specialty rolls, edamame, pineapple and chicken fried rice, and dumplings. 🥤 🍣 🍱🍍🍗🥟
“Of course we finished off with some Thai rolled ice cream for those who still had room after the incredible dinner we had,” says advisor and teacher Jessica Kardashian, who notes the students were willing to try things they don't normally eat and go outside of their comfort zones and it paid off. “We all had a great time and can't wait to get out and about for our next one at the beginning of next school year!”

SENIOR DAY OF SERVICE 2022: Members of the senior class of Silver Creek High united Friday (June 3, 2022) to give back to the community.
The Class of 2022 separated into groups at Sunset Bay Beach, Borrello Beach, Wells Park, Seneca Nation Beach, St. Columban’s Retirement Home on the Lake and Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
The seniors that went to the beach picked up trash, scrap metal, and even a tire!
The St. Columban’s group picked up sticks along the resident nature trail, and the group at the cemetery picked up sticks and raked.
After their community service, all seniors gathered at Sunset Bay Beach Club one last time before graduation. They had a blast – they played cornhole, football, and some braved swimming in the lake.
With the sun shining down on these 12th-graders, it was a perfect day to make a positive impact in the community they live in and brighten everyone’s day.

Silver Creek Central School District students in grades 5-7 in the Girls on the Run club participated in the Heart & Sole 5k race yesterday (Sunday, June 5, 2022) in Buffalo! 🏃♀🙌🖤💛 Learn more: https://gotrbuffalo.org

How beautiful are these homemade red poppy pins created by Silver Creek Middle School’s Builders Club? 🌹🌹
Earlier this month, club members created them for SCMS staff to wear in observance of Memorial Day 2022. 🇺🇸 The red poppy is a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. ☮️
The Kiwanis Middle School Builders Club (co-advised by SCMS staff Rose Battleson, Laura MacLeod and Cassandra Roberts) is a student-led group providing opportunities to work together in service to the school, community, and our nation. Its objectives are to develop leadership potential and to foster the development of strong moral character through service projects.
The advisors are always encouraging more students to join the club. Students come up with the service ideas throughout the academic year and the advisors try to bring those service projects to life.
Some of the service projects of the 2021-2022 academic year include:
▪️ Trick or Treat for UNICEF 🎃 🍬
▪️ Operation Christmas Child 🎄🎁
▪️ Cards for residents of St. Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home 💌 🥰
▪️ A food drive for the Silver Creek Food Pantry, and 🛒 🥗
▪️ Planting seeds for Earth Day in little pots ahead of Teacher Appreciation Week in May 🌏🌱👩🏫
Each year it looks a little different because it is based in what the students feel is important for their school and their community.
We encourage our Black Knights to explore all the possibilities open to them via Builders Club for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Good evening Silver Creek Families.
Today is Tuesday, May 31. Due to a forecast of inclement weather, the DISTRICT GALA scheduled for tomorrow, June 1, has been POSTPONED until Thursday, June 2. The event will follow the same schedule, including the chicken barbeque. Another broadcast will go out tomorrow evening once we have secured a location for the postponed event.
Thank you for your support and understanding.

Please join Silver Creek Central School District in observing Memorial Day today (Monday, May 30, 2022) by remembering & honoring all who served. 🇺🇸🙏 #MemorialDay2022 #RememberAndHonor #wearesilvercreek #BKP #BlackKnightPride
