A Message from the Silver Creek Elementary School Principal

January 2024

Happy New Year! That break flew by us! During the winter break, I hope you all had the chance to catch up with family and friends and were able to find time for rest and relaxation.  We are excited to get the rest of the school year started with you and your children.

As we move into 2024, our teachers and staff have been working hard to create a variety of opportunities for students to continue to be successful in new learning.  These opportunities are designed to engage students with academic content and to build on previous knowledge. Having consistent interaction with your children outside of school will help them to retain new skills and information. We know that parent/family engagement plays an integral role in the success of your child.

Our staff continues to work diligently to assist children with navigating their emotions, building social relationships, and to help them develop strong problem-solving skills. We have been teaching a monthly breathing strategy for children to use when they feel they need to regulate. These skills have been taught and revisited alongside our character traits lessons, during morning meetings.

Here are few important recommendations to help us kick off the new year at Silver Creek Elementary School:

Attendance- Attending school each day plays an integral role in your child’s success. Being here, at school and participating in learning activities will give your child the opportunity to learn and grow each day. Please send your child to school every day on time unless they are ill.

Engaging in your child’s learning- As children see that education is important to you, they will do better at school. Participating in activities inside the building, as well as at home with your child, helps them to navigate the new and exciting things education has to offer. Keeping the line of communication open between school staff and home helps us all to grow together and design the best educational environment for your child.

As parents of our students, you are the most important person (people) in their lives, and we appreciate you having a continued partnership with us during the year. Thank you for your commitment to your child’s learning and continuing to communicate with us. Please know that we always welcome your feedback as we look forward to growing too.

Sincerely,

Heather Krystofiak, Principal
