Mrs. Pagano, Miss Miller, and Mrs. Schuster's 3rd classes are currently learning about The Decisions We Make About Money as their ELA Module curriculum. Today students were engaged in a variety of Financial Literacy/Money Matters interactive stations. Students were randomly paired up and then took time to decide which station they wanted to start at. Stations included a variety of learning modes which were described on their Money Matters Choice Board (See photo). Students will continue to rotate through all nine stations over the coming weeks as we continue to grow in our understanding of Financial Literacy.
As seen by the photos, students were engaged and independently driven to complete their differentiated assigned stations. Two of the stations are games, Finance Go Fish - a vocabulary building game, and Money Bags - a making money and exchanging money game. As seen in the photos, Miss Miller and Mrs. Pagano led students through these games while Mrs. Schuster supported the Spend or Save and Text Features stations.
As one of the stations, students are using CANVA to create a poster about Money Matters to introduce the podcast. Once all students have created their poster, they will get to vote on which one they feel is the best representation. Additionally, students are practicing a Readers Theater Play called Money Matters to improve our reading fluency. This play will be recorded as a podcast and shared with K-5 grades and 3rd grade families. Our students love learning in so many unique and engaging ways and watching them interact, learn, and shine has been such a pleasure for us.
Finally, both classes would like to extend a very warm thank you to Dr. Ralston for once again sharing a fantastic read aloud book with us Maybe by Kobi Yamada. This book inspires our children to dream big about the possibilities and opportunities they have before them and to reflect on all they've accomplished and all they've yet to experience.
