The newest class of Silver Creek High School’s National Honor Society was recognized during an induction ceremony held Monday, December 5, 2022, in the auditorium. 🕯
Eligible students must have a 90 or above average, complete an application, write an essay, and get teacher recommendations in order to be considered. The 16 new inductees exemplify the four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
The ceremony started with Principal Mr. Kyle Yelich welcoming everyone. NHS co-president Payton Brennan led the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced the group. Vice-president Amber Lockwood gave an overview of the pillar of scholarship; secretary Melanie Wilson spoke on service; co-president Eva Tytka discussed on leadership; and treasurer Jeremy Kral finished speaking on character.
All inductees were introduced by a teacher of their choosing, recited the pledge under the direction of co-president Payton Brennan and join 1 million students nationwide who hold this prestigious honor. NHS co-advisors Mr. Zachary Colson and Mrs. Carolyn Laurenzi-Timmerman could not be prouder of these students, their accomplishments, and what they will bring to the SCHS chapter of the NHS.
The inductees are: Rachael Beadle, Emily Bowers, Wyatt Breton, Sarah Cross, Julie Decker, Emma Forthman, Katie Gard, and Jorge Hasbun, Shawn Kelly III, Lily Prince-Rivera, Harmony Sinders, Briana Spinuzza, John Steinwachs, Stephanie VanCheri, Kaelee Weiskerger, and Payton Wood.
