Teacher Aide
Position Summary:
The Teacher Aide supports classroom teachers and students across multiple instructional settings by assisting with instructional activities, student supervision, and daily routines. This position plays a vital role in ensuring students can access learning, participate safely, and experience a positive school environment.
- Support teachers in the delivery of instruction by assisting students with instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Provide academic and behavioral support to students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as needed, including during study hall, lunch periods, or other non-instructional times.
- Deliver direct student support within various educational settings, including classrooms, gymnasium, pool, playground, hallways, and other school environments.
- Assist students with mobility throughout the school building, including standing, walking, stair navigation, and transitions between locations.
- Support students with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, feeding, and toileting, in a respectful and confidential manner.
- Perform additional support services that assist teaching and learning, as assigned and supervised by certified staff.
- Assist teachers with non-instructional tasks such as grading assignments, recording data, maintaining student files, and preparing reports.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Requirements: Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma

Compensation: $16.00/hour- per CSEA contract in the job classification of Teacher Aide.

Health Office - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Long Term Sub 2025-2026Minimum Qualifications:
- Current license as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Knowledge of Word processing and basic computer technology
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality of health information
- Current certification in CPR, AED and First Aid
Reports to: School Nurse (RN), Medical Director, and/or Department Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of, and direction from, the School Nurse (RN) and Medical Director, the individual performs all duties and responsibilities assigned to the health office according to the guidelines established and current Health Office protocols such as:
- With appropriate training, administers first aid
- As designated by the School Nurse (RN), administers medications
- Follows established school procedures for care and reporting of injuries and illness
- Assists students with personal care
- Notifies School Nurse (RN) about any concerns/issues suggesting child abuse or neglect
- Assists school physician and/or School Nurse (RN) in physical, visual, auditory, and scoliosis screening examinations, and other health screening tests of students
- Assists School Nurse (RN) with clerical tasks relating to referrals to parents resulting from screening procedures and physical examinations
- Assists School Nurse in preparation and distribution of educational materials for students, staff and parents
- Selects, re-files, monitors, and records information on student and staff records
- Reviews pupil records to obtain selected health information (i.e. immunization status) for use by the School Nurse (RN) and/or District Administration
- Performs attendance follow-up calls as required by the individual school’s protocol, completes follow-up phone calls (absent students, records request, sick child pick up, medication reminders)
- Re-admits students following absences and issues special passes and excuses
- Measures and records temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vitals as necessary
- Administers students with oral, topical, and inhalant medication according to State Education guidelines
- Assists with wheelchair transfers, crutches, walkers and other ambulatory assistance
- Assists with casts, splints, braces and prostheses
- Administers G-tube feeds and other parental nutrition
Other duties as assigned by the School Nurse (RN) and/or District Administration

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning tasks. The responsibility of an employee in this class involves only the thorough execution of tasks following a well-established routine. Supervision is received from a custodian or other superior. Job description
The bus driver performs skilled work involved in the operation of motor vehicles. The bus driver is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers. While performing the duties of this job, the bus driver is regularly required to sit; use hands to grip, and handle the equipment on the bus; and ability to talk and hear well. The bus driver frequently is required to reach overhead with hands and arms. The bus driver is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The bus driver must occasionally lift or move up to 125 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Duties include:
- Operating a school bus on a regular schedule or on special occasions.
- Checking the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip.
- Informing children about safety practices.
- Maintaining orderly conduct of children on the bus.
- Keeping bus exterior washed and interior clean and neat.
- May be required to operate a Mini-Van or other vehicle(s) maintaining orderly conduct of children on the bus.
- Maintaining records of mileage, routes, times and incidents.
- May be asked to assist in the preparation of maps of routes and pick-up points.
Bus Driver Training Requirements
- Must hold Commercial Driver’s License - CLASS B with Passenger and School Endorsement. Driver must meet all Dept. of Motor Vehicle Article 19A regulations, which include annual physical, road tests and written tests. A 19A examiner will ride with you at least once a year.
- All new drivers must be fingerprinted for background check with federal agencies.
- New drivers are subject to pre-employment drug screening. All current drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as well as all new drivers. Yearly, 10% of our drivers are tested for alcohol and 50% of our drivers are tested for drugs.
- Physical performance test - All new drivers tested upon employment; all regular drivers must be re-tested every 2 years.
- New drivers will receive approximately 30 hours of training to learn the proper driving skills for handling a school bus. In addition, they will be given training on state and federal laws and regulations, and district policies.
- Two 2 1/2-hour safety refresher courses are required for all drivers annually. In addition, two additional 1-hour safety refresher courses are required annually for drivers of students with special needs.
- A 30-hour basic training course must be completed within first year of hire. After receiving a certificate upon completion of the course, drivers will be compensated for time.
- Upon completion of the above training requirements and hired by Silver Creek Central School District, all drivers are hired in a substitute position until a permanent opening becomes available.
