Attendance Information

Dear BKP Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I would like to begin by thanking our families, students, and staff for their support of our district-wide attendance campaign last year. Through our collective efforts, we successfully reduced our chronic absenteeism rate by 5%. This achievement is an important first step, and we are excited to continue building upon this success during the upcoming school year.

While we celebrate this progress, we also want to remind families that every school day matters. Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. Even when absences are excused, students miss valuable instructional time, classroom discussions, hands-on learning experiences, and opportunities to build relationships with their peers and teachers.

As we continue our attendance campaign this year, we encourage all families to help us reinforce the importance of being present and engaged in school every day. Thank you for helping us work toward our goal of having students in school, #everyday.

As part of our commitment to supporting students and families, I am also asking you to complete our Family Needs Survey that will be included in our summer mailer. The information gathered through this survey helps us plan family events, parent information nights, educational workshops, and connect families with resources that meet their needs. If there are additional supports, services, or opportunities you would like to see offered, please share your ideas with us through the survey. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to grow and improve our programs.

In addition, we remain committed to expanding opportunities for family engagement throughout the district. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome your suggestions for future events and activities. We would also love to hear which events and programs you have enjoyed so we can continue offering meaningful experiences for our students and families.

Thank you for your partnership and support. Together, we can ensure that every student feels connected, supported, and successful. I look forward to a fantastic school year and all that we will accomplish together.

Warm regards,

Shannon Matson
