Resource Room

What’s happening in Resource Room?

The resource room at Silver Creek Middle School is designed to develop, strengthen, and improve skills for academic performance and achievement.  Through pre- and post- teaching, executive functioning skills are taught which focus on planning, organization, attention, working memory, perseverance, task initiation, self-control, metacognition, flexibility and time management.  In addition, core class instruction will be reinforced in the areas of reading, writing and math. Students' progress will be monitored and reviewed throughout the year according to their IEPs (Individual Educational Plans).

Resource Room is not a study hall and does not ensure homework completion.

Class Goals

- To monitor the students' progress toward meeting their IEP goals

- To assist the student in successfully completing all courses of study

- To maintain communication with the student, parents, and other staff involved with the
  education of the student

- To introduce and develop reading, writing, math and executive functioning skills needed for learning

Class Expectations

It is expected that students will come to class prepared and on time with all the needed materials. The students are expected to maintain some form of daily planner, or another organizational method to keep track of assignments, projects, and tests/quizzes. Students will complete assigned work in order to achieve goals on their IEPs and review/complete assignments from their content-area classes.
