Applying for Scholarships

College scholarship information and applications can be found in the list at the left. Click on each scholarship for more information.    
Students have the option of applying to colleges online or by using the paper application. The benefits of applying online are; decreased processing time, built in checks for errors and in some cases colleges may offer fee waivers for student who apply online.  Whether you are applying online or using a paper application, there are procedures that must be be followed to ensure that the colleges receive the proper information in a timely manner.   

                                 Online Application Process                                        

  • Complete online application on college website.

  • Students may also be prompted to download and print a counselor recommendation page. THIS MUST BE GIVEN TO YOUR COUNSELOR.

  • To pay for your application, students will need to enter credit card information or download an invoice and mail to the college with a check or money order.

  • Fill out an online application form (available in guidance or below) so that Silver Creek Central School can send an official transcript and letters of recommendation, if applicable, to the desired school. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PROCESS. IF WE DO NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE APPLIED TO A SCHOOL, WE WILL NOT SEND YOUR TRANSCRIPT ANDYOUR APPLICATION WILL REMAIN INCOMPLETE AT THE COLLEGE!      

  • Transcripts are mailed within a few days of receiving the online application form. 

  • Students and parents must watch the mail for any secondary applications and/or acceptance/denial letters from the colleges you have applied to.  SCHOOLS WILL CORRESPOND DIRECTLY WITH THE STUDENT.    

  • Students are encouraged to bring secondary applications, which usually include an essay to their counselors for review and mailing.                       

        Paper Application Process

  • Complete paper form.

  • Submit completed paper application with application fee to counseling office.

  • Student's counselor will review application and complete counselor information section, attach transcript and mail to the college or processing center.

  • Students and parents must watch the mail for any secondary applications and/or acceptance/denial letters from the colleges you have applied to.  SCHOOLS WILL CORRESPOND DIRECTLY WITH THE STUDENT.

  • Students are encouraged to bring secondary applications, which usually include an essay to their counselors for review and mailing.
